    Cage rediscovers his comic touch
    12/27/00
Nicolas Cage says he rediscovered his knack for comedy as soon as he started making his latest film. The actor was desperate to play a funnyman in The Family Man, which has just opened in UK cinemas. Cage, whose credits include Leaving Las Vegas and Raising Arizona, admits his character in the new film is very different to his usual action-hero roles. The Oscar winner said: "It had been a long time but as soon as we started shooting I found my timing and the earlier rhythms that I used to apply in comedies.

Cage's nutty antics almost cost him Hollywood career
    12/20/00
Nicolas Cage once went so weird he thought his career in Hollywood movies was over. He says he was getting the cold shoulder from producers he thought were friends of his family. And it wasn't until he made Leaving Las Vegas that he felt he had been accepted back into "the club". "I totally blame myself," says Cage, who went on a cockroach-eating spree in the 1988 black comedy Vampire's Kiss. "That was about the time I had this strange look on my face and stared at people. It wasn't drugs or drink. I think I was being an exhibitionist or just trying too hard to be a character. I thought 'Hey, how can I be 'interesting'? It was a truly dumb idea. "I'd go into bars where there would be studio executives. You could tell from their faces that they thought there was a real nut on the premises. It took a long, long time for that image to go away. "Cage stars with Tea Leoni in the new movie The Family Man which is being released on Friday in the UK. In the romantic comedy he plays a high-flying Manhattan investment banker whose life is turned upside down after a phone call from an old girlfriend. "It's one of those 'what might have been' situations," he says. "We all look back and say 'what if?' from time to time. But we somehow have to get on with our lives." He will also soon be seen with Penelope Cruz , John and Christian Bale starring in Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

Patricia Arquette files for divorce from Nicolas Cage
    11/18/00
The on-again, off-again marriage between Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage and actress Patricia Arquette is apparently off again. Arquette has filed for divorce from Cage citing "irreconcilable differences" in a petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Cage had filed for divorce in February, but the couple reconciled and the petition was withdrawn. Arquette's divorce petition stated that the couple separated again on November 1. The two married in April 1995 and separated nine months later, according to documents from Cage's first divorce petition. They have already dissolved their assets and debts by written agreements, court documents said. Cage, who is the nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola, won a best actor Oscar in 1995 for his role as an alcoholic in Leaving Las Vegas. Arquette, the sister of actors David and Rosanna Arquette, is perhaps best known for her role as a possessed woman in last year's horror film Stigmata. The couple appeared together last year in the Martin Scorsese ambulance drama Bringing Out the Dead.
